Required texts. Essential readings that students must read in order to reach their required subject learning outcomes – for example, a subject required textbook or required weekly readings. These items should be bookmarked onto a reading list with an importance level of Required.. Required items (physical items*) will be placed in the High Demand collection on 3 hour loan. The READING BEYOND book lists are comprised of 25 titles in three age categories. These books were evaluated by the ALA member librarians of the committee and were chosen for their content, quality, and variety of genre and format. All the book annotations in the handouts available below are original descriptions written by librarians.
To find and access your reading lists: Search using the unit code or unit title. When you have opened your reading list click on individual items for further information including Library availability and links to full text where available. Click on individual items to show library availability and/or full text of online resources. Don't be alarmed if your child struggles with a book on this list. What's important is to make reading a daily habit. 3rd Grade By 3rd grade, children are reading independently. Take your child to the library regularly to select new titles. 4th Grade By 4th grade, children are reading to learn about the world.
